Natural Christmas trees are better for the environment because they can be
recycled. Additionally during growth (young trees have a high rate of
photosynthesis) they support life and the future environment by absorbing
carbon dioxide and emitting fresh oxygen.
The National Christmas Tree Growers Association, supported by Swedish research
predicts that each acre of trees grown produces the oxygen requirements of 18
people. Artificial trees are a petroleum based product that use exhaustible
resources, are not easily biodegradable and remain in land fill sites for many
Natural christmas trees are a renewable recyclable resource, planted to be
harvested. Since two possibly three seedlings are planted for each tree
harvested this further contributes to the environment.
